Empowered by Lord Shiva’s blessings, Kamasur became a force to be reckoned with. With Shukracharya’s counsel, he established his reign as the king of the demons. He married Trishna, the daughter of the demon Mahishasura, and together they amassed a formidable army.

Kamasur’s ambition knew no bounds. He constructed a mighty fortress named Ratid and expanded his dominion, conquering earthly kings and seizing control over both heaven and hell. His rule was tyrannical, and his actions brought chaos to the universe. As the demon king extended his power, goodness and righteousness vanished, while dishonesty, cruelty, and violence flourished under his reign.

The Divine Intervention: The Emergence of Lord Vikat

In response to Kamasur’s growing power, the gods convened a secret council to find a way to rid the world of the demon’s tyranny. Among the wise sages present was Maharishi Mudgal, who advised the gods to seek the help of Lord Ganesha. The sages and gods, desperate for a solution, began to worship Lord Ganesha earnestly, praying for His divine intervention.

Pleased by their devotion, Lord Ganesha manifested in His fierce and powerful form as Vikat Ganapati, also known as Mayurvahan—the Lord who rides a peacock. The appearance of Lord Vikat, with His large tusk and fierce aura, was a symbol of divine retribution against evil forces. He declared to the gods, “Do not fear! I will defeat the demon Kamasur and restore balance to the world.”

Lord Vikat mounted His majestic peacock and set out to confront Kamasur. The sight of the divine Lord, powerful and unyielding, sent shockwaves through the demon army. Kamasur, furious at the audacity of this divine being, immediately prepared for battle.

The demon king Kamasur, with all his rage, threw a powerful mace towards Lord Vikat, hoping to crush him. But to Kamasur’s surprise, the mace fell harmlessly at Lord Vikat’s feet, unable to harm Him. Infuriated, Kamasur unleashed a mighty celestial weapon known as Shakti, but once again, it fell before Lord Vikat, powerless.

At this moment, Kamasur recalled the words of his mentor, Shukracharya, who had once warned him: “If Lord Ganesha enters the battle, seek refuge at His feet. He controls the creation, sustenance, and dissolution of all universes, including time itself. You will not be able to defeat Him.” Realizing the futility of his aggression, Kamasur, filled with remorse, sought refuge at the feet of Lord Vikat.

The Redemption of Kamasur

In a moment of profound humility, Kamasur apologized for his wrongdoings and expressed deep regret for his tyrannical reign. He acknowledged his faults and sought forgiveness. Lord Vikat, embodying compassion and mercy, granted him redemption. With His divine grace, Lord Ganesha forgave Kamasur and saved him from further suffering.

Lord Vikat ordered the demon king to return everything he had wrongfully seized. Kamasur, humbled and repentant, complied and restored all that he had taken from the innocent earthly kings and gods. After making amends, he withdrew from the world of mortals and retreated to the netherworld, known as Patala, where he could no longer pose a threat to the universe.
